The Docuworld Film Festival is thrilled to announce that The Little Things, a deeply moving and poignant documentary, will make its world premiere at the festival’s 3rd Annual Edition on November 1st, 2024. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Elliott Griffiths, the documentary offers an intimate look into the lives of families, staff, and children at Derian House Children's Hospice in Lancashire, England.

The Little Things sheds light on the often misunderstood world of children’s hospice care, contrasting the initial fears and misconceptions with the transformative support provided by Derian House. The hospice offers state-of-the-art facilities, comprehensive sibling support, and vital counseling services, all of which work to ease the emotional burden faced by families. Through raw and heartfelt interviews, the documentary presents the powerful stories of those whose lives have been touched by Derian House, encouraging viewers to reflect on the importance of small moments of joy and the profound impact they have in the face of life’s most challenging circumstances.

About the Director: Thomas Elliott Griffiths

Born in Wrexham, Wales, and now based in the North West of England, Thomas Elliott Griffiths has established himself as a talented and versatile director, producer, and editor. After studying Film and Television Production at Coleg Cambria, Thomas went on to complete a degree in Film Studies with Film Production at Edge Hill University, graduating with First Class Honours in 2019.

Griffiths is no stranger to critical acclaim, having won multiple awards for his previous work. His debut feature documentary AUTISM: A CURIOUS CASE OF THE HUMAN MIND earned both the Best Documentary Feature and Best of Fest awards at the BAFTA-Cymru qualifying Carmarthen Bay Film Festival in 2017. In 2018, his short documentary STICKS & FEATHERS was awarded Best Factual Film at the Hothouse Film Festival in Nottingham. Additionally, his debut fictional short film CAPTIVE took home the Best Short Film award at the BIFA-qualifying Spirit of Independence Film Festival in Sheffield in 2020.

Beyond his directing work, Griffiths has been involved in several projects as a producer, including the micro-budget feature film KATE & JAKE and the short films THE DEATH OF THE HOUSE PARTY, BUD, and ARE YOU OKAY? The latter two were featured at the BFI Future Film Festival in 2022 and 2024, respectively.

With The Little Things, Griffiths continues his tradition of thought-provoking and emotionally resonant storytelling. As he makes his mark with this world premiere at The Docuworld Film Festival, The Little Things is poised to become one of the festival’s most talked-about films, inviting audiences to engage with stories that not only inform but inspire a deeper appreciation for life’s precious moments.
